Quick answer

Every fact on this site is checked against a named primary source, such as Ofgem, HMRC or MCS, before it is published. Content is written and reviewed by our editorial team, checked regularly, and corrected promptly when errors are found. We do not publish general prices or savings figures; those come on your written quote.

How we check facts

Every fact on this site is checked against its primary source before publication. Policy information is checked against official Scottish Government and UK Government sources. Tax rates are verified against HMRC. Smart Export Guarantee information is checked against Ofgem. Yield information is checked against MCS MIS 3002. We do not publish a fact we cannot trace to a named source.

How often we review

All tariff and tax information is reviewed regularly. When a policy change is announced (for example, a scheme closing or a VAT rate change), we aim to update the relevant page promptly. Each page carries a "Last updated" stamp and a "Sources" line so you can see when we last checked and where the information came from.

Who reviews

Content is written and reviewed by the Scottish Energy Efficiency editorial team. We install through MCS-certified partners. Technical claims about installation, hardware, and performance are checked against the manufacturer's published specifications and MCS standards.

What we do not do

  • We do not publish general prices or savings figures. Costs are confirmed on your written quote after a no-obligation survey.
  • We do not round figures up to make them look better.
  • We do not claim tariffs or tax reliefs are available without linking to the source.
  • We do not present generated images as real installations.
  • We do not attribute MCS certification to Scottish Energy Efficiency. We install through MCS-certified partners.
