Quick answer
Most Scottish homes can benefit from solar panels, and many can add a battery to store daytime energy for the evening. The right system depends on your roof, electricity use and tariff. We install through MCS-certified partners, price every system at survey, and confirm everything on a written, no-obligation quote.

Common questions, straight answers
Every system is priced at survey, because the right size depends on your roof, your electricity use and any equipment you already have. Your price is confirmed on your written quote before you commit. Solar panels and batteries qualify for 0% VAT until 31 March 2027. Interest-free credit up to £30,000, subject to status.
It depends on how much electricity you use, your tariff and whether you have solar panels. A battery can store daytime solar for the evening and, on a suitable tariff, charge on cheaper off-peak electricity. We do not publish typical savings. Any figures for your home are set out on your written quote.
No home system makes you fully independent of the grid, but the right setup can cover a meaningful share of your electricity. How much depends on system size, roof direction, shading and when you use power. We look at this for your own home at the survey, and any figures are set out on your written quote.
Yes. Solar panels generate from daylight, not heat, so they still produce electricity on bright, overcast days. Long Scottish summer days help offset lower winter output, and cooler temperatures suit panel efficiency. Output varies by location, roof direction and shading, which is why we confirm expected generation for your roof at survey.
Usually, yes. Most existing solar systems can take a battery, either through a hybrid inverter or a separate battery inverter. Our surveyor checks your current inverter, wiring and space, then sets out the options on your written quote.
Interest-free credit up to £30,000, subject to status. Ask about spreading the cost when you request your quote, and the options will be set out clearly before you commit to anything.
Through the Smart Export Guarantee, energy suppliers pay you for surplus electricity your system sends to the grid. Rates are set by each supplier and can change, so it is worth comparing offers. You need an MCS certificate for your installation to qualify, which our MCS-certified installation partners provide on completion.
Most domestic roof installations are permitted development and do not need planning permission. You may need consent if your home is listed, sits in a conservation area, or the panels would face a road. We check your property's status during the survey and tell you before any work is booked.
Not by default. For safety, most battery systems switch off when the grid goes down. Some systems can provide backup power with extra equipment that isolates your home from the grid. If backup matters to you, tell us at survey and we will explain the options and include any costs on your quote.
Modern lithium iron phosphate batteries are designed for many years of daily charging and discharging, and Scotland's cooler climate is kinder to batteries than extreme heat. Exact lifespan depends on the product and how it is used. Warranty and guarantee terms are confirmed in writing on your quotation.
MCS, the Microgeneration Certification Scheme, is the UK quality standard for small-scale renewable installations. Certified installers must follow defined standards, and an MCS certificate is needed to claim export payments. We install through MCS-certified partners. You can check any installer yourself on the public register at mcscertified.com.
We look at your roof, electricity use, fuse board and where equipment could go, then recommend a system that fits your home. There is no obligation. Afterwards you receive a written quote showing the equipment, the price and the terms, so you can take your time and compare before deciding anything.
